Costa Rican... smell the
coffee!
The signature feature of
costa Rican coffee is its
amazing aroma. More than
seventy per cent of Costa
Rica's coffee production
comes from the high
mountains where altitudes
range from 800 to 1,000
metres above sea level.
At these altitudes, the
temperature fluctuates
between 17 and 23 degrees
centigrade. Sun light is
stable and rainfall optimal.
Our Costa Rican coffee is a
chestnut roast,
distinctively aromatic with
a sweet, crisp acidity,
round on the palate with
sweet chocolate/caramel
notes.

non-professional
Nespresso machines. An
easy indication as to
whether your machine
will accept our capsules
is, that if you
currently use the
Nespresso capsules from

How Coffee can Save your Life
|
We all know that coffee tastes amazing… and let’s face it, if you are
reading this, it means that you agree. But, I bet you didn’t know that
it’s also good for you! Scientists have conducted extensive studies on
the health benefits of coffee, muscle pain relief, slowing Alzheimer’s,
the list goes on.
Follow our bi-monthly newsletter, as we discover some of these
findings.

Coffee and Brain Function
A study, conducted by
Scientists at the
University of Barcelona
in Spain, on a group of
40 volunteers, found
that enjoying a cup of
coffee, boosted the
brain’s performance, but
only when enjoyed with
sugar or a sugary sweet
snack.
Researcher Dr J. Serra
Grabulosa said: "The two
substances improve
cognitive performance by
increasing the
efficiency of the two
areas of the brain
responsible for
sustained attention and
working memory. The
brain is more efficient
under the combined
effect of the two
substances, since it
needs fewer resources to
produce the same level
of performance than when
volunteers took only
caffeine, glucose or
water."
After consuming their
beverage, the scientists
performed MRI scans on
the volunteer’s brains
while they carried out
tasks designed to test
their attention span and
working memory. Results
showed that drinking
sugar-sweetened coffee,
better prepared the
brain for the busy day
ahead.
Coffee is a well-known
stimulant which works to
produce a 'more rapid
and clearer flow of
thought and relieves
drowsiness and fatigue.'

Ritchieh. 'After taking
caffeine one is capable
of greater sustained
intellectual effort and
a more perfect
association of ideas.
There is also a keener
appreciation of sensory
stimuli, and motor
activity is increased;
typists, for example,
work faster and with
fewer errors."
