Hello

Welcome to the August issue of the Time & Data Management newsletter.

This month I would like to share a case study we recently did with a firm of town planners in Queensland, who have gone from time-wasting manual procedures to becoming a picture of streamlined efficiency with Timeslips.

If you would like to share your story with other Timeslips users, please let us know.

I will be in the US from Friday 8th to Friday 22nd August attending the LexisNexis US Practice Management annual conference. I have worked with several of the LexisNexis US products over the years and continue to support Time Matters here in Australia. Time Matters can work alongside Timeslips to help you keep track of calendars, contacts, documents, email etc all in one central database.

While I am away, please feel free to contact me via email if you have any questions.

As always, feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss anything in particular about Timeslips - training is only a phone call away!

- Michele

Case Study

Dillon Folker Stephens - Town Planners, Sunshine Coast

Director of Dillon Folker Stephens, Kari Stephens, explains how Timeslips has improved their business:

"I think it is fair to say that Timeslips has changed many of the financial aspects of our business. Changing from a time-intensive manual data entry and billing system to a fully automated software package has been a bit of a revolution. There have been some growing pains (which naturally come with a whole new system) but in the long run, the pain has been worth it."

Timeslips Remote

Do you currently use a laptop?

Are you spending time away from the office during the business week?

Is your computer not connected to the network?

If you said yes to any of the above questions, then Timeslips Remote may be the solution you need.

Tracking time and expenses while out of the office or in a non-networked environment is easy with Timeslips Remote. A stand-alone application based on Timeslips, Timeslips Remote maintains the familiar interface, making it easy to learn and to use.

Entries made into a remote computer are easily sent to Timeslips via flash drive, disk, or as an email attachment. In turn, Timeslips creates a file that keeps Timeslips Remote in sync with every new client, task code and other new data entered into Timeslips.

Timeslips Report Groups - this feature has been in Timeslips for quite some time but is commonly overlooked.

Do you get overwhelmed when you go to the Reports list and see all the reports you can generate from Timeslips? You can make your life much easier by creating a Report Group, e.g. "Monthly Reports", and moving the reports you generate on a routine basis to this group. Then it's just a matter of opening that report group and printing your reports.

How do you set up a new report group? Click here to see how.

The reporting capability of Timeslips is one of the features that sets it apart from other time tracking solutions.

Contact us if you would like to know more.

Obsolescence Policy: Time & Data Management currently supports Timeslips by SAGE version 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008 - Sage Software's Obsolescence Policy is to support the current Timeslips release and, in most cases two prior releases of a product. If you are using an obsolete version of Timeslips, we urge you to upgrade to the most current release in order to be eligible for support and to be compliant with new operating environments.

Do you know how productive you really are?

[GRAPHIC: SAMPLE REPORT - PRODUCTIVITY BY PERIOD]

This month we will look at the "Productivity by Period" report.

This report should be run at the end of each month after all time and costs are entered. The Productivity report displays for you:

the value of billable versus unbillable fees and costs; and

   billable versus unbillable hours.

You can filter and sort this report various ways. Most commonly it is filtered for the month worked and sorted by Timekeeper.

By generating this report each month you can determine if each person in your firm has reached their budget target for the month.

Contact us if you would like to know more.

A text search may be performed to search for possible client conflicts.

You can find the searching feature by going to Special (from the top menu) and selecting Text Search.
